70s Vtg Franci Taste Set

Here we have a very scarce cool, colorful, and fun, true-retro 1970s complete eight-piece dinnerware set for four by the artist Franci, founder of the company, Villa Vanilla (Palm Beach, Florida) for the Taste Setter Collection for amm . The official pattern name for this set has been lost in time. It features black and white (and sometimes gray) African animals on bright yellow backgrounds. One plate and one versatile mug (see last photo for screenshot of NYT article explaining Franci's thinking about the two-piece place settings she created) in each of four animals: the elephant, zebra, lion and tiger. A total of eight pieces, four oversized plates and four oversized mugs, make up the entire four place settings starter set offered here. No other sizes of plates, and no bowls were made for Franci's eclectic patterns. We have lots of cool dinnerware in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. : Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. We often add graphics such as arrows, circles, and text boxes to our photos to point out things of interest that might be hard to see, such as a price tag or maker's mark, as well as to highlight many condition flaws. Very clean and fresh, bright and shiny pieces in overall excellent to minty condition. No chips, cracks, stains, silver/gray utensil marks or crazing. Three of the plates and one of the mugs have a one to a few scattered, completely colorless
, very light scratches to the glaze, the kind that are visible when the piece is held up at just the right angle to a direct, bright source of light. With these pieces you still have to search very carefully to even see them under those conditions. The black rim on the zebra plate has a spot where it was applied a bit wonky. (See photo highlighting it.) All of the cups have a few very small, dark marks sitting on top of the rim, probably caused by stacking, because the cups don't seem to have been used much, if at all, and others that we've seen in this pattern on eBay have the same issue. They can't be felt, so they're definitely marks and not fleabites. An Internet search for methods of removing marks from dinnerware might provide the solution for removing them, although they aren't that noticeable. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report.
